LA Weekly Tenacious D cover design

Incorporating mustard drawn handlettering with the messy photo by Kevin Scanlon brought this cover together beautifully. Creating freeform typography was an exciting process, never knowing what kind of squirt would come out of the nozel, and which kind of mustard nozel worked best for drawing were all considerations I had to deal with. Four bottles of mustard later, I created the custom mustard typeface I was looking for and was hearlded as one of the best covers from the past ten years at LA Weekly..
